The traditional ceramic industries continue to be necessary to our modern society ,but whole new categories of specialty applications have arisen .For many of these applications ,the ceramics have been carefully engineered to meet demanding and often narrow specification of properties .Excellent properties ,advanced ceramics may be found in aircraft engines,automotive engines cutting tools used for making metal products,the skin of space shuttles,knifes bullet proof armor,artificial hip-joints,computers,microelectronics and so on.Advanced ceramics can be classified by chemical composition ,properties,or applications.In the present section we list the basic properties of some advanced ceramic materials by their classification of chemical composition.
